Hyde Rocha-Morgan
My name is Hyde, and I’m a 16 year old student from Minnesota, USA. I’ve been fascinated by astronomy ever since I could read, and I’ve always wanted to go to space. My love for space originally came from the book Moonshot, a kids book about the Apollo 11 flight. That book gave me a love for space travel and adventure, and it initiated my curiosity. I also have a creative side, so I like architecture, as well as drawing with pens, pencils, and markers.
I am also really interested in the role that technology will play in space travel, specifically AI. While most technological revolutions happened before I was born or while I was too young to understand them, the AI revolution is happening right now, meaning that I am old enough to be involved, and young enough to see it evolve and its applications expand. Overall, I am very excited to be a part of the select few chosen for this exciting opportunity.
Briley Griffin
Hey there, I’m Briley Griffin! I’m a 16-year-old student from Kansas in the United States. I enjoy many activities, so I tend to be involved in a multitude of organizations, such as: Chick-Fil-A Leader Academy, National Honor Society, National Society of High School Scholars, Environmental Club, Health Occupations Students of America, Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America (Vice President of Membership), Yellow Ribbon Club, Renaissance Club, and Varsity Track. I am also a sophomore class officer! I enjoy being an engaged member in each of these organizations because of the opportunities they open up for me, such as coordinating our school assemblies and giving track lessons to local kids in my community.
My love for outer space comes from a place rooted deep within me. From the time I started to attend star parties in my home state, Arkansas, I have been captivated by space exploration and viewing objects outside of our home world. Within the last year, I have assembled my first 10” Dobsonian telescope to view these entities. My family and I enjoy clear, dark skies when we can use our telescope to observe everything from the enchanting craters on the Moon to the mesmerizing rings of Saturn.
I am extremely grateful to be a recipient of the 2024 Al Worden Endeavour Scholarship! I look forward to being a member of Mission Team #20: USA! As the Kansas motto goes: “Ad Astra Per Aspera”!!
Joshua Gibson
Hello, I’m Joshua Gibson, a 16-year-old high school student from Rockville, Maryland. I’m passionate about aerospace engineering, particularly the development of spacecrafts. My interest in the engineering and design development process came from the exploits of SpaceX’s reusable rockets, and innovative production methods. My passion for this has led me to participate in many STEM-related classes offered, where I have been able to learn skills from woodwork to 3D printing.
I’m also an enthusiastic athlete and enjoy basketball, wrestling, and track (sprints). I love listening to Jazz music and I play the Baritone saxophone in my school band.
I am excited to experience Space Camp alongside fellow aerospace enthusiasts and am looking forward to making lifelong friends and memories.
Sara JOhn
Hey y’all, I’m Sara John from Auburn, Alabama in the U.S. I’m a graduating senior currently living at a boarding school in the Southern US (technically an hour away from the Gulf of Mexico)! In the upcoming fall, I’ll be attending university in New York City to study mechanical engineering. I’ve been intrigued by space ever since attending Space Camp in 6th grade, and I’ve been a STEM girly ever since. I hope to one day contribute to space exploration missions with my consistent passion for engineering and mechanics.
Besides that, I love leadership and all my work in my school leadership positions. In the past few years, I organized a school-wide haunted house, a Yule Ball group ballroom dance, and giant senior trips to Six Flags, Disney, and Universal Studios, to name a few. So, ask me about them, or about my boarding school lore! On a more personal note, I love consuming stories, playing piano, experimenting with coffees, and cherishing fleeting moments with friends.
I look forward to being a part of this crew and making long-lasting friendships and memories through this program. Best believe I’ll create a mini vlog to capture our time together!
