In coordination with Experia Events and Singapore Science Centre, four outstanding students were selected to form this team and represent their country as Mission Team #18, Singapore. This marks our third Singaporean team and we are so excited to have them join us this summer!
A huge thank you to Boeing and Lockheed Martin for supporting the celebration of Mission Team #18 at the Singapore Airshow. Special thanks to The Honorable Jonathan Kaplan, US Ambassador to Singapore; Brig. Gen. Anthony Mastalir, Commander of US Space Forces Indo-Pacific; and Mr. Leck Chet Lam, Experia’s Managing Director, for their inspiring words at the event in the USA Partnership Pavilion at the Singapore Airshow.

Emily chang
Hello everyone! I am Emily Chang from the School of Science and Technology, Singapore!
Since I was young, I have always been curious about the inner workings of the world around me. This led me to grow a passion for STEAM and a drive to learn science and apply my knowledge in real-world scenarios. My favourite subjects are mathematics, electronics, and physics, as I could use this knowledge to engineer innovative solutions to solve real-world problems.
In the vast expanse of space exploration, physics is the fundamental principle behind propulsion systems, enabling the creation of rockets and explaining astronomical phenomena. Mathematics is vital in the precise navigation and steering of a spacecraft. Electrical systems are everywhere in spacecraft design and operation, from the intricate circuitry of systems to the sensors that gather data in an exploration mission. As I learned more, my fascination with space grew, and I was in awe of the fantastic feats of space exploration and the technology developed to do so.
I am equally passionate about the performing arts, especially in choir and dance. Though science and art may appear to be polar opposites, they both deal with experimentation and exploration, aiming to push boundaries and discover new knowledge. Ad Astra!
Qeshm Singh Saandhu
Hello! I’m Qeshm Saandhu from the School of Science and Technology, Singapore.
Ever since I was a little kid, I’ve always been fascinated by the idea that there’s a whole other world outside the little planet Earth that we know so well. It wasn’t until I later realised the universe’s actual scale that confused me. You’re telling me that Earth is like a grain of sand compared to the universe. And there’s so much outside of the home we know that we barely even matter to the universe. It was concepts like these that kept me intrigued. The universe is ever-growing, and there are so many galaxies that we will eventually find equally intelligent life forms. That’s what has always interested me. As I grew up, I continued to read and learn about the topic, but being older, I understood more and had many of my questions answered.
At the age of 8, I picked up on another passion, programming. I started with robots, which linked back to space exceptionally well to me, in areas such as the Mars rovers or crewless missions. As I got older, I moved away from robots and started to work on app and web development, which I still do now. But there was never a moment that I lost interest in the cosmos, and I won’t until I’ve figured out the answers to all my questions.
Natalie Chen Hui Regina Ruzsicska
Hi everyone! I’m Natalie from the School of Science and Technology, Singapore.
Ever since I was a child, I’ve looked up at the night sky and felt a deep sense of wonder. The vastness of space, the twinkling stars, and the endless possibilities of what lies beyond have always fascinated me. Now, as I pursue my passion for aerospace engineering, I feel like I’m on the brink of an incredible adventure, ready to explore the unknown and push the boundaries of what we know about the universe.
Outside of my academic pursuits, I find joy and relaxation in the art of archery. It’s a sport that challenges me physically and mentally, and I’m proud to compete in international competitions representing Singapore, honing my skills and pushing myself to be the best archer I can be.
I’m excited to see where my journey in aerospace engineering will take me, and I can’t wait to share my experiences and discoveries with others. Here’s to new adventures and endless possibilities!
Kam Yau Shing
Hi there! My name is Kam Yau Shing, and I’m currently studying at the School of Science and Technology in Singapore.
Ever since I was little, the mysteries of outer space and the wonders of artificial intelligence have captured my imagination. This curiosity sparked my passion for STEM, especially robotics. My favourite classes are Computer Science, Physics, Chemistry, and Microbiology. I’m aiming for a job in the bioinformatics field, where I can merge these interests to make discoveries that matter.
Regarding space exploration, each of my favourite subjects plays a crucial role. From the physics and chemistry that fuel our rockets to the computer science that keeps them on course and the biology that helps us understand new life forms – it’s all interconnected. My growing interest in these areas has only deepened my desire to explore the cosmos and be the person who finally answers whether we’re alone in the universe.
But I do have a life outside school. I’m an archer, free runner, and volleyball libero. But these aren’t just sports I play; they’re another way to challenge myself, innovate, and push beyond what I thought was possible. Sports and science share a common thread: both encourage us to explore, innovate, and expand our horizons.
Remember, the sky’s not even the limit; the only limit is your imagination. So, dream big and reach for the stars. Ad astra!
Mission Team #18 Educators
Seth Tan
Greetings from Singapore! I’m Seth Tan, a Humanities teacher and Scout Master at the School of Science and Technology, Singapore.
My passion lies in outdoor and STEM-related education. As a Scout Master of an Air Scout unit, I am committed to providing my Air Scouts with a robust STEM education. This includes hands-on activities like building gliders to delve into aerodynamics and the principles of flight. I also provide opportunities for them to code programmable Tello drones for real-world simulated tasks, enhancing their technological skills and understanding of robotics. Additionally, I teach modern science techniques for sustainable urban farming. Using ham radio as a tool to connect with scouts in other places, I encourage my scouts to participate in the annual ‘Jamboree on the Air’, teaching them communication and promoting cultural exchange in the process.
As an educator, it is a privilege and honor for me to guide and inspire the next generation, enriching their lives through exploratory learning and a love for the outdoors.
Deana Syazwani
Greetings from Singapore! I am Deana Syazwani, a Mathematics teacher at the School of Science and Technology, Singapore. Growing up, I was captivated by the clarity and precision inherent in Mathematics, in that there can be no ambiguity to numbers. As I journeyed deeper into the discipline, though, I discovered its intricate beauty lies not just in its simplicity, but in the profound interconnectedness among its various branches. Now, as a teacher, I feel privileged to be able to embark on a journey of discovery with my students, unlocking the secrets of numbers and equations, and embracing the beauty and wonder of Mathematics.
“Mathematics, rightly viewed, possesses not only truth, but supreme beauty – a beauty cold and austere, like that of sculpture, without appeal to any part of our weaker nature, without the gorgeous trappings of painting or music, yet sublimely pure, and capable of a stern perfection such as only the greatest art can show.”
– Bertrand Russell, A History of Western Philosophy
