Congratulations to our third Chilean team selected for the Endeavour Scholarship! This group was chosen in close coordination with the Colegio de Ingenieros de Chile. Their contest to pull the best and brightest from across the country was a great success. We are proud to introduce you to this year’s winners: Antonia Covacevich, Catalina Reyes, Gabriela Urzua, and Claudia Andrea Ulloa Henriquez.

The leader of this mission team is Rosita Guerra from the Arturo Merino Benitez School. The Arturo Merino Benitez Foundation is a cornerstone of current support for future leaders of Chile through their dynamic approach to education.

The winners will be awarded their certificates in the USA Partnership Pavilion (USAPP) at the FIDAE 2024 (10 April). This ceremony is particularly unique to Endeavour as it ties in with the 30th anniversary of the USAPP. Kallman Worldwide has supported many goodwill initiatives around Chile, including the COAR House, and Endeavour. Learn more about this celebration here.

Antonia Covacevich

Hello, my name is Antonia Covacevich and I study at The British School in Punta Arenas, Chile. I’m 16 years old and am the oldest of four siblings. I’ve always been attracted to sciences, my favorite subjects are Physics and Maths and I find fascinating the possibility of applying the knowledge that I acquire in class to solve problems in real life. I’m a dedicated student, thus, I get great results at school, but I also enjoy developing extracurricular activities like artistic gymnastics, which I’ve practiced since I was very young. I’m part of the Alumni center as well, where I’ve learned so much about teamwork, organization and project development, as all the members work together to make our school a comfortable space for everyone. I also love traveling, skiing, doing crafts and spending time with my friends and family.

Since I was taught about space in primary  school I’ve developed a deep interest in astronomy and aeronautics. I’ve done different school projects regarding this theme, connecting it with Arts, Design and even Spanish. My dream is to work in something related to space as an adult, that’s why from the first moment that I heard of this opportunity I got super excited and put all my efforts into creating a good project, as I always do when I want to achieve my goals. I never thought that this kind of program would reach my region, which is basically the last area of the continent, near Antarctica. My wish is that through this experience I’ll inspire others in my community, demonstrating that you can achieve your dreams if you work hard.

Claudia Andrea Ulloa Henriquez

Greetings! I am Claudia Ulloa, a 16-year-old high school student from La Florida in Santiago de Chile. To be honest, ever since I was just a little girl, my mind has always been among the stars, looking at the midnight sky through the window of my room or being absorbed in documentaries and astronomy books. One of my most beloved memories relates to my first science class in first grade; my bones still feel the thrilling emotion when our teacher told us about the universe and beyond. I was enchanted with it, and I’ve never stopped being so.

Now that I’m in my teenage years, I have grown to love physics and maths, but I’m not going to lie, deep inside me, I’m way more a humanist than a scientist. However, without that side of me, I would never have been able to achieve certain things, maybe I would have never loved science to begin with. We should stop separating these two areas as opposites; after all, scientists and poets also look at the sky and dream of the stars.

This is why I, too, dream of reaching the stars, combining the desire to get to know them and the ambition of explaining them through words that everybody can understand.

Catalina Reyes

My name is Catalina Reyes, I’m 17 years old and I live in the north of Chile. I have a lot of hobbies, I enjoy playing the piano, painting, reading different types of books, and playing volleyball. I consider myself as a curious person, I love learning new things and I’ve always had a great interest in science.

Gabriela Urzua

Hello there! I’m Gaby, a sixteen-year-old student with a passion for science. Ever since I was a child, my dream has been to become an inventor, driven by my curiosity about how everything works, and the possibility of creating something new that would impact our society. This passion has led me to immerse myself in STEM subjects from an early age. Currently, I actively participate in design technology, robotics, and programming.

I also enjoy being part of collaborative environments. Whether it’s on the basketball court or during improvisational theater sessions, I find that working with a team fuels my creativity.

I’m thrilled about the opportunity to engage in this experience and eager to learn alongside others, bringing my passion and skills to the table.
